Been remiss in posting to my blog. Got back June 13th and had wonderful company, my good friend, Sue, for a week! But never posted to my blog. The garden of course had lots of weeds so worked on getting it weed free - not that it stays that way. Sue helped with staking the tomato plants to the sticks - was quite a job. But they are surviving. We checked out the local flea markets and wandered the countryside. Sorry to see her leave. Airline tried to keep her here but after many hours she finally got home.
We've had very little rain, so the garden is pretty dry, but plants are surviving with some limited water. I've spent lots of time in the weeds (literally) and going to and doing my at home program for wrist therapy. Have started back to the gym too; have really lost all my conditioning since breaking my wrist. So it's a slow go at the gym. Did play a good deal of tennis while in Florida this last time, but none since coming to Virginia.
The week after Sue left was Chautauqua week in Wytheville. I went on an interesting architectural landscape tour with the master gardeners, went to the flower show, the art exhibit, and have listened to a couple of bands at night time with my cousin, Mary Jane. Tonight is the last night and hope to get there if it doesn't rain. Rock, rhythm and blues night.

We finally had a little rain last night and it's helped the garden a lot. Today there are actually some flowers on the beans so there is hope that we will soon have something to harvest besides lettuce and onions. The squash looks like it may have flowers soon too. We do have some tomatoes (only green) and there are some little peppers. Third round of radishes are growing and looks today like some spinach I planted is coming up. Cabbage is heading; my brother in law gave me one of his this week - they got put in earlier. He also brought me garlic today. I have a little spinach that I have used a bit of, but the bugs are eating more of it than we are. The new spinach is in a different location so hopefully will fare better. The corn is high but no ears yet.

Many flowers are in bloom and it's pretty here. Lots of daylilies, yucca, some filapendula, roses, lilies, and many of flowering weeds. Rhododendron just starting to bloom.
