April 2014

Arrived Tuesday, April 21 after a long ride in the Jeep! We  got here safely and opened up the house which takes a bit of work, so we are glad we arrived in daylight hours. Saw some beautiful spring wildflowers, dogwoods and redbud on our trip up.

The heat was on in some rooms in the house, which also was nice since it is always cold when we come back.  Had some floors refinished and they needed to have a particular temperature for them to dry.  Love the new look, though we aren't yet using those rooms. We can go in in sock feet, but trying to keep the dog out to  give them a chance to really cure.

Pictures are pre-furniture. The workman came back on Wednesday to move the heavy furniture back into the rooms. Thank goodness; neither Nelson nor I  (still dealing with aftermath of broken wrist) could have managed it. I am still moving small things but we have most things moved out of the dining and TV room.

Nelson is still trying to get the water pressure corrected, but we do have water, electricity and have gotten groceries, so are managing quite well. Life is good!

Met with a hand therapist here in Marion and she took measurements and will do my therapy the times I am here. She's very experienced. Have appts with her now week of May 18th.  In the meantime, doing my own therapy exercises though not often enough. Need to get back on track. Making progress and this week and I can use two hands on computer, have written my name on a couple of checks with left hand, and can carry more in left hand than last week. Still can't turn my hand over enough nor flex my wrist backwards to throw a serve up :(    I see my orthopedist Dr/ in Fl on Wednesday.

The yard needs lots of work and had hoped to get some of that done this week, but so far I have done nothing outside. Nelson is working manure into the lower garden a little bit at a time  - thanks to HJ's mules!  There are some pretty early spring flowers that I am enjoying.  My herb garden didn't fare well over winter, but maybe it's just too early; not ripping out anything yet.  Going back to Fl Sunday so not much time anyway.
