Been in VA mountains, gone back to FL and now here again! Lots in bloom, lot's I've missed and weeds taking over the world! Has been cooler than normal and lots of rain in the month of May. Made getting the garden in a little more difficult and have had to replant some things multiple times. Still not seeing some seeds germinating, so may replant some things today and hope for the best.

porch columns

Over the winter Butch covered the porch post with new aluminum siding and instead of just creating square boxes as was there before, he followed the shape of the wood columns; much prettier now!

Brussel Sprouts and Cabbage
Butch and Luci again included us in their pre-summer inside planting plans and this year we got lots of brussel sprouts and cabbage plants as well as tomatoes and basil. Then bought some plants at the high school sale - some of which I planted too early and have had to replace!

Lettuce
Besides cabbage family and tomato plants, also have various peppers, cucumber, butternut squash, gold zucchini (actually accidental purchase, so we shall see), yellow squash, and various herbs (rosemary, french thyme, parsley, cilantro) planted as well as seeds for green zucchini, green beans, yellow wax beans, sugar snap beans, lettuce, radishes, carrots, delicata squash, and multicolored chard. Nelson has corn and limas (and onions that Cathy planted for me last fall) in his private garden across the street :)

Sugar snaps; green beans
On left are the sugar snaps and on right what little is left of green beans. We have some critter who loves the baby green bean leaves at this location and is eating them as fast as they grow. Have planted them elsewhere too and just this week, I see them breaking through, so hoping same critter happy with just this first location and will leave those in the big garden alone.

Also have potatoes that have come up on their own. I didn't purposely plant these myself, but Butch threw some down here when they went to seed, so now I have some growing.

Gigantic Iris

Garden of Eden - not so pretty
Lots of flowering things not sure what all of them are, but all are surrounded by weeds. Have gotten the beds near the house weeded, but nothing by the garage, streets or in the not so idyllic Garden of Eden.

Yellow Iris, Purple flag iris, flowering black raspberries

Peonies and purple irises
Boy! Those porch columns are fancy - they look wonderful. And I love the giant Iris. Can't wait to see what a golden zucchini looks like - hope it survives the bunnies and deer.
